Obituary of Civil War veteran and Oregon settler
A 13 year old emigrant from near London moved to America and later served four years in the Civil War. He married Mary A. Jobson in Wisconsin and had three daughters, Myrtis May deceased, Maude B., and Mildred R. Wills. The family moved to Oregon in 1892, living at Chehalem Center and then Newberg. He joined the Friends church early in life and was noted as kind and loving.

Wedded Bliss Marks 55 Years for Hollingsworth Couple
Fifty five years since Thomas Hollingsworth and Miss Mary Graham wed in Indianola Iowa they remain devoted. He is 80 and she 78. A small anniversary dinner was hosted by Mrs Hollingsworth with Ruth Wright attending. The couple moved from Iowa to Oregon in 1870 and later settled in Newberg after living in Tillamook County.

New Dundee West Side Highway Progress Report
By invitation of J. R. Mitchell the writer rode the road toward Dundee Monday evening. The new Chehalem creek bridge sits lower than the railroad bridge creating a deep cut and a brief five percent grade. Drainage side ditches are added and a straight shot toward Dundee will be finished once the creek is crossed. Gravel contract to be let soon. Mitchell, new to highway work, has past railroad experience.

Wedding at Everest Home Unites Goldie Everest and Donald Matthews
A noon Tuesday ceremony at J. T. Everest home joined Goldie Everest and Donald N. Matthews of Salem with Rev Jewell officiating. The bride wore white satin with a sweet pea veil, carried white sweet peas, and pink green decor filled the rooms. A two course luncheon followed before the couple left for a camping trip and plans to settle in Newberg where Matthews teaches science and Mrs Matthews remains a public school teacher.
