Minnie Viola Hoskins Robertson, born August 20, 1868 in Charlottesville Indiana, died June 4, 1920 in Vancouver Washington. She married Walter O Robertson January 22, 1891, lived in Newberg Lebanon and Portland, survived by husband two sons Balfe and Harold and two grandsons Wayne and Lewis. A Friends church member and active in Burr Oak Circle Women of Woodcraft Pearl Rebekah Lodge. Funeral at Friends church in Newberg conducted by Rev Fred E Carter.
Quarterly Meeting announced at the Free Methodist Church with services beginning Friday evening led by Elder W T Klotback. Children’s Day exercises at 10 to 4, Sunday preaching at 11, communion, and an old fashioned love feast at 7 with further preaching. Pastor W N Coffee extends invitation.
The West Chehalem Sunday school page announces its annual picnic set for Saturday June 26 at Barnett Roe's place in the Wapato district. Events include baseball volleyball horseshoes and swings and all races are welcome.
Oliver F. Kilham of the Newberg High School Agriculture Department extols southern Oregon and Corvallis garden displays. He argues Newberg should imitate landscape plans, boost home grounds, and promote college education as essential fundamentals for all youth and adults alike. He cites Pacific College in Newberg as a model and urges annual field trips to Corvallis.
The Library Board and Civic Improvement Club urge pies or baked beans donations for a lunch near the post office to benefit the Newberg Public Library book fund. Officers elected include Mrs E E Goff president and Mrs George Kelly first vice president. The executive board comprises several members and the group will serve lunch July 5th to aid the library fund.
A church notice invites worshippers to an all day meeting at the Church of God hall on East First Street this Sunday with visiting speakers in attendance.
