Prune Acreage Expands in Oregon Valley Grower Forecast
A few years ago prune acreage in the valleys between Portland and Ashland was 11,000 acres. It has grown to 40,000 acres. This year’s Oregon prune crop is about 25,000,000 pounds. Lewis predicts the crop may exceed 100,000,000 pounds in a few years, prompting calls for organization and cooperation to market the tonnage.
