Oregon Electric plans Tigardville to McMinnville extension

Oregon Electric general manager Guy W. Talbot will propose starting construction next season on a 30 mile Tigardville to McMinnville extension as the first West Side link toward Corvallis and Eugene. Salem Albany extension is abandoned due to Salem opposition. line to Hillsboro and Forest Grove expected by October 1 with rapid progress.

Apple Growers Prize T trophy for McMinnville Apple Fair

Hon C W Hodson of Portland offers a trophy for the best commercial packed exhibit of three apple varieties at the Apple Fair in McMinnville in November. Competition under Willamette Valley Apple Growers Association judges fruit quality form type color and packing. Three tier apples not allowed. apples must be grown in Yamhill County by a county resident. Trophy to be competed for annually and won three times.

Newlin Golden Wedding Celebrated With Uplifting Program

The Newlin golden wedding was celebrated with relatives and friends, about 150 in attendance. Mrs. Newlin has long led the evangelical department of the W C T U. A seven letter surprise from several states stood out, and a poem by Decia Macy was shared. The couple received twenty five dollars in gold and other keepsakes, with refreshments served under a grape arbor.

Portland Notes: Postmasters Convene and Dairy Debates

Oregon postmasters met at the Portland Commercial Club with Min to of Portland presiding and the Fourth Class Postmasters organized led by Addison Bennett of Irrigan and W. J. Clarke of Gervais. Protests were filed against the Pure Food Conference emission for evaporated milk solids at Mackinac Island. E. H. Harriman vacations at Pelican Lodge with Kruttschnitt and Calvin touring Oregon railroads. One way ticket sale runs September 1 to October 31. Oregon fair associations plan a Fall Show in Portland to showcase livestock and products for new packing plants under construction.
