Joy Ride to Tillamook Beaches Across Oregon Coast
A group of five families traveled by car from Chehalem Valley to the Oregon coast starting August 1. They toured Forest Grove, Columbia County, Astoria, Gearhart, Seaside, Manzanita, Nehalem, Garibaldi, Netarts, Tillamook City, Hebo, Beaver, Pleasant Valley, and Pacific City, returning home before dark. They camped, fished, and shared stories with Mr Crocker and Mrs Eleanor Palmer among others, noting Coast scenery and rapid travel.

S C Dunlap of Portland died at the Portland hospital on July 31 1917 at age 50 years 7 months and 8 days. He led Holly Condensed Milk and Cereal Co as president and had just supervised a new factory in Pennsylvania. He leaves wife and son Burr. funeral was at Holman Parlors and burial in Rose City cemetery. A P Dunlap of Newberg is his brother who learned of the death too late after traveling from California.
