W C T U Essay Contests Promote Temperance Topics
The W C T U expands contests on narcotics and tobacco with state and national prizes. Edith Smith Davis leads the program. Oregon unions have supported it with hundreds of essays read publicly. Prizes range from 20 to 100 dollars with word limits 800 to 3000 for different student levels. Essays due July 15 and submitted via state headquarters in Portland.

Concert by College Glee Club Promised for April
The Ladies Glee Club set April 18 for a concert in the college chapel directed by Prof Hull. The program includes Duet of the Stars and Pilgrim's Chorus with Mrs Hull and piano department students performing Nutcracker and Mouse King Suite. Miss Katherine Romig presents a recitation. Tickets sold by club members to support the piano fund.

High School Plans Big Spring Week Events
High School notes outline a big event year with a baseball game against another team and a track meet. A May queen will be chosen by public vote starting soon. May Day celebration is set for Saturday April 29 to avoid interfering with school work and to allow children to attend. The state champions will play Old Stars on Friday. The final basketball game of the season, likely the last for the five, is scheduled Friday night April 14 at the High School gym. The five old stars will face the High School team, a fast and husky squad. Monogram sweaters have been ordered for the team and the fundraiser aims to cover the cost.
Easter Sabbath at Methodist Church Promises Notable Program
Next Sabbath Easter program at the Methodist Episcopal Church features a 10 A.M. Sabbath School service followed by missionary Mrs. S. W. Eddy from India occupying the pulpit at 11 A.M. and again at 7:30 P.M. Her addresses precede an Easter Cantata by the choir directed by Prof. Alexander Hull.

Obituary of Priscilla Bond Hodson the Spiceland Native
Priscilla Bond Hodson born November 1 1828 near Spiceland Indiana married Caleb Hodson in 1846. She survived by nine sons Levi Moses Pleasant Lindsay Emery Julius Charlie and Elmer and had eighteen grandchildren and several siblings. She lived in Oregon and Washington areas before settling near Neubeg and later Morrow county. She was a birthright member of Friends church and died peacefully on April 6 at 3 a.m. after a long frontier life.
