Rockefeller Denies Control of Western Maryland Assets
The report that John D. Rockefeller controlled Western Maryland securities through a trustee is disputed. Alvin W. Krech says most general lien bonds are with his committee and not Rockefeller. Winslow G. Pierce notes claims are exaggerated and denies a pooling of stock and bonds. Rockefeller’s investment totals about 10 million, with property value near 38.9 million. Gould says he does not own a controlling stake. Some sources claim Rockefeller influence could extend beyond Western Maryland, including Missouri Pacific holdings.
