Bailey's Vindication Debate in Texas Primary

Bailey's Texas delegate win appears narrow and not a decisive vindication of his leadership. The article notes his 16,000 to 20,000 margin out of about 200,000 voters, challenging claims of invincible political power and questioning the oath pledge tied to Bailey's campaign. The piece casts doubt on his image as infallible and examines the implications for his opposition.

The piece argues three or four amendments will be added to the Vreeland land currency bill and warns that House leaders seek a passage that may diverge from the final measure. It critiques the process as risky for currency reform and predicts potential adoption of the Aldrich bill by the Senate. A Plea for the Peers in Morley's Peerage Move

The shift frees him from Commons duties, allowing administrative focus while preserving cabinet service.

Preservation of the House of Peers Warrants Notice

The argument favors a co-ordinate Parliament branch less demanding than the House of Commons, keeping ministers from being overtaxed and Parliament’s work from being left to lieutenants. Military power in the air. Stedman’s aerial navigation foresees war use

A posthumous Century Magazine piece by Edmund Clarence Stedman argues aerial navigation offers sport, science and military potential. He predicted airships would assist reconnaissance and scouting, with limited transport use, while warning England’s naval power could face a future air threat. Skepticism remains on air power surpassing sea power and on rapid-fire weapons in aviation.

The Passaic Hudson Canal Proposal

The passage discounts a ship canal from the Passaic to the Hudson, noting feasible routes around the Paterson falls and Hackensack crossing, suggesting tunneling of the Palisades and likely limited value compared with the existing Passaic River highway of commerce. It argues the canal would be difficult and unnecessary despite technical feasibility.

New Jersey’s Drainage Dilemma and Canal Woes
