Aldrich bill widened but still flawed currency plan

Banks face strain from emergency bond purchases and notes

It warns that permanent bond holdings or infrequent emergency purchases hamper lending, predicts timid growth away from bond markets, and notes opposition from bankers, merchants, and Republican papers. It suggests a currency commission as an alternative and links policy to the national election.

Delcassé praised for seeking Britain amid war fears

The passage argues against an Emperor William driven war over a Franco British treaty, noting it would be mad for Germany to attack France for a secret British pact while Germany secretly allied with Russia. It concludes M. Delcassé acted wisely and honorably in pursuing closer ties with Great Britain.

It aims to test long-range capability, keep the route unbroken for 2,178 miles, and then head to Callao with limited Chilean stopovers for supplies and coastal cruising. The voyage remains practical, not a pleasure tour, with early eastward positioning relative to its starting point and precise latitudinal guidance.
