New National City Bank occupies revived Old Custom House
The Wall Street landmark, remodeled at about 2 million dollars, becomes the National City Bank’s new home at No. 52 Wall Street. Architect Mc Kim, Mead & White preserved the façade while adding a modern interior with a vast main floor, a big vault, extensive burglar protections, a central information bureau, a telegraph and cable department, and multiple mezzanines for clerical work and a historical collection.
