Dutiable Paintings Must Be German Products for Reduction
The Board of United States General Appraisers ruled that paintings claimed dutiable under the U S Germany reciprocity treaty and shipped from France must be proven as German products to qualify for the rate reduction. An Allegri oil painting failed to show German origin and no appearance was made at the hearing. The board also denied free entry for a marble statue of Justice Matthew Murphy, declaring it must pay 15 percent duty under the Italy treaty.
