The Interborough Rapid Transit Company reported a new single day ridership record of over 1.8 million riders on a Monday, with subway traffic about 861000 and elevated lines carrying roughly 45 and 55 percent respectively. The hearing, before the Public Service Commission, focused on a proposed 180th Street Third Avenue elevated station and a car storage yard that could affect expansion plans.
