Bundesturofest trip carries 21 to Denver from New Ulm

A New Ulm Turnvereins group, led by Prof. Herman Helin, travels Monday morning at 6:25 to Denver for the Bundesfest. Julius Berndt Sr., 82, funded by local Masons and citizens, joins as the happiest participant to see the Rocky Mountains. The party boards a Turner special via Mankato, Denver events unfold over three festival parts with diplomas Sunday.

Consolidation Endorsed At Lutheran Synod Meeting

The Lutheran Synod held in Minneapolis discussed consolidation of the Wisconsin Minnesota Michigan and Nebraska synods. Delegates were urged to vote and report by August 10 while reports praised inner mission progress and North Dakota expansion. The synod also talked of seminary staffing remodeling plans and next meeting at Gibbon.

Band Concert Sunday Eve June 29 Program From Medleys to Overtures

A Sunday evening band concert lists selections including Medley Marches and Overtures. Puzzling Fire Alarm Blamed on Frayed Electric Wire

Fire alarm at the Amann barn near the saloon led firefighters to a non blaze when a worn insulation electric line sparked. Dick Amann was shocked attempting to douse flames. Rubber booted workers avoided further shocks as wires were traced and a smoldering six inch hole with a nail started the wood burning.

Sleepy Eye Marriage Unites Miss Steffen and Mr Hentges

Miss Anns Steffen daughter of Anton Steffen and Alois Hentges of Shakopee wed at St Marys church with Rev Stulz officiating. Maid of honor was Josephine Steffen and Joseph Herzog served as groomsman. After a wedding breakfast at the bride's sister Mrs A J Bertrand home the couple left for St Paul and two weeks, returning home July 1 to Owens Sullivan's home.

Buscher Election Contested Over Machine Gun Company Role

Colonel Buscher's election as Col. of the Second Regiment is challenged on grounds that Machine Gun Company officers lacked legal right to vote. New Ulm Plans Lively Fourth of July Celebration

The committee-led festival features a grand parade led by Colonel Buschere with military units and the Second Regiment Band. Events at the Fair Grounds include purse contests, horse paces by Doc White, amateur motorcycle races, tug of war, and children contests. Picnics, dances, and a fireworks night cap the day long celebration in Brown County.
