Harmony marks a peaceful Democratic county convention

The Democratic County Convention at the Unique Theatre chose F. W. Johnson as temporary chair and William Brest as secretary. Delegates from New Ulm Sleepy Eye and other wards were seated, resolutions praised Jeffersonian principles, criticized Republicans, and endorsed direct election of Senators, income tax, and reform measures. The meeting adjourned confident this would be a banner year for Democracy.

German Day parade plans and festival at Heights

End of School Year Exhibits Draw Parents Out

The school closed for summer as teachers combined the year end exhibit with exercises on May 2. Parents attended in strong numbers, with increased turnout across nearly all grades. Exhibits showcased the year's work, highlighting student effort and classroom achievements.

A large crowd gathered at City Cemetery for Hecker Post Memorial Day ceremonies with Ex Gov Van Sant and Mayor Fritsche speaking. Readings included Lincoln Gettysburg address and Logan proclamation. Class of 1912 graduation at Turner Hall praised for simplicity with two musical selections and speeches by Mabel Frederickson Alma Schmidt and Prof Hess.
