A cordial invitation invites all subscribers to attend University Week entertainments. Afternoon lectures and music are free, while evening programs cost 25 cents each or a six-evening season ticket for 1.00. The Review Office provides information, phone 101, or in-person inquiries.
Dr Otto J Siefert and wife aided by Mrs Siefert treated five injured in a runaway mishap on Koch hill behind the College near Cottonwood. Bertha Bryggen suffered a thigh fracture with chest injuries. others had cuts, a dislocated thumb, and facial abrasions. The party returned to New Ulm. Bryggen stayed over night due to his daughter's injuries. University Week opened with Dr Raymond Phelan addressing business and health, urging prompt attendance and boosting the town through civic effort.
A program opening with overtures and marches leads into a discussion on industrial health and worker welfare. Dr Phelan stresses lighting, ventilation, regulated hours, and emergency medical services as key to efficiency. Eleanor Poehler then entertains with songs and readings for children, promoting educational value through music and story.
Court adjourned after eleven days as jurors tackled multiple civil and criminal cases. Ella Hutchings sued Sleepy Eye Telephone Co. for $7500 over a death caused by a live wire. verdict favored Hutchings for $1800. Susie Beckius's slander suit against her father was dismissed. Marron found insane at the time of arson and sentenced to St. Peter. A separate case involving Albert Schmid v Frederick Thompson resulted in $250 for a child’s injuries.
