Tragedy Near Cambria Children of Cambria Die in Cottage Fire

A fatal cottage blaze near Cambria early Monday killed Reese and William Thomas, two well known local bachelors. Fire started from a kerosene stove, clothing burned, and one victim died in a spring while the other perished after attempting to help. Both men lived near Cambria for decades, born there, and left family and friends mourning. The house was reduced to charred embers as neighbors and a doctor arrived to treat survivors. The incident stunned the Minnesota bottoms community two miles east of Cambria.
