St Pauls Lutheran Church held its annual meeting at the parochial schoolhouse with solid attendance. Word reached Sleepy Bye New Year's morning that Henry F. Dooley was very ill with pneumonia. He left Ross e on Sunday December 19 for Jefferson Barracks Missouri and joined the army aviation corps. After passing his examination he recently received his uniform and may be suffering from the damp Missouri climate as he adapts to outdoor activity.

New Ulm Savings & Loan Association Reports Strong Year
The New Ulm Savings & Loan Association held its annual meeting in the Weiser Block. Secretary William Plaender presented an annual statement showing 2,873 shares of running stock held by about 500 shareholders, plus 106 paid up stock and 1,332 loan stock shares. The association had $133,200 in first mortgage real estate loans. In the July 1 to year end period, 388 running stock shares were issued, 268 cancelled, and 268 loan shares issued with 148 cancelled.
