Test of Commission Plan Validity Reaches Supreme Court
Attorney General Simpson filed a petition in the Supreme Court to test the right of Mankato's five commissioners to govern under the 1900 commission plan. Taxpayers led by August Blissensbach funded the suit, aiming for an early ruling on the law's constitutionality as cities consider adopting the system. The agitation committee will grow the society, which totals 461 members with about $6000 in assets, while a Methodist Church lecture series runs through mid January with topics on salvation, repentance, purgatory, and church authority.
