Ruffel Wins Appeal Over City Transient Dealer License

Judge Olsen reversed Justice Henningsen, invalidating a city ordinance that let the city clerk set transient dealer licenses. The ruling holds the license fee power unconstitutional and excessive, nullifying fees from 25 to 500 dollars and voiding the ordinance for delegation and amount.

Hymens Altar Fetes Viola Schell and Cleveland Frederick

Last evening at the Schell home Miss Viola Schell wed Cleveland Frederick in a ceremony led by Justice Henningsen. Alma Marti provided music as Lottie Andre and Pred Hubbard attended. Millers Raise Fighting Fund to Oppose Bleaching Ruling

A national fighting fund of fifty thousand dollars is organized by millers led by Minnesota figures to oppose a government bleaching ban on white flour. The move, backed by eighty percent of U S millers, targets Dr. Wiley and Secretary Wilson over the ruling as Minnesota attendees report to Chicago.

Demise of Mrs Albert Behnke

Mrs Albert Behnke died after a prolonged illness Sunday morning surrounded by her husband and children. Born September 18 1830 in Friedland Mecklenburg Strelitz she came to America in 1854 and married Albert Behnke in New Ulm on October 21 1857 after meeting him in Chicago. The couple faced pioneer hardship and prosperity together as the frontier town grew.

River Improvement Bills Advanced by Minnesota League

At a Minne sota River Improvement league meeting in St. Peter two bills were proposed for legislature: to improve any overflowed river due to drainage ditches and to empower the state drainage commission to conduct surveys and improvements. Delegates named to present the bills before senate and house committees include Fred Fritsche, Capt. Jacob Hindermann, Sen. Poehler, Attorney Benson, C. N. Cosgrove, J. H. Diers, Dan Williams, Frank Irwin, and M. W. Savage.
