City Wins One and Loses One in Nagel Neumann Cases

In district court, New Ulm City Attorney Pfaender won the Nagel case where Victoria Nagel sued over a retaining wall built during street improvements. The Neumann case, a $5,000 personal injury suit by Eliza Neumann for stepping into a coal hole, resulted in a $1,000 verdict for the defendant. judgment to be paid by the city with later recourse against the fronting property owner. Municipal cases also include indictments against George Sweet and Albert Guth, and rulings in several civil actions, with Rystel ordinance appeal argued but undecided. other trials and settlements noted.
