Commercial Union backs shoe plant plan for city site

The New Ulm Commercial Union favors donating a site for a Helmerdinger and Poeppel shoe factory and urges city cooperation to secure capital and workers. Officers were elected, including President Jacob Klossner Jr and Secretary Henry Samsen, with a note that active membership and energy are needed for city advancement.

City council approves high bid for general fund bonds

The Western German Bank of Cincinnati bought the city’s $20 000 general fund bonds at par with accrued interest and a $792 premium. The council also planned bond redemptions for Minneapolis New Ulm Southwestern bonds worth $9 000 to be paid January 1900.
