Co A of the Fifth Regiment Minnesota Infantry National Guard sails August 12 for Camp Lakeview at Lake Pepin Lake City Minnesota for fifteen days. Troop train from Minneapolis carries companies from Laverne Worthington Windom St Peter to join the unit. Enlisted men receive 2 dollars daily plus board with officers in training under Fort Benning and Fort Leavenworth instructors.

Man Injured Unloading Cement at Lumber Yard
Adolph Glaessmann, a Henry Simons lumber yard truck driver, fell from a boxcar while unloading cement. An improvised four foot high platform broke as he pushed a hand truck loaded with eight sacks, trapping him under sacks and injuring his right hand and other bruises. He was sidelined briefly but returned to work early the week.

Lodges from Sleepy Eye Madeira St James New Ulm and I C O F units from Lamberton Walnut Grove Morgan St Peter Tracy Springfield Mankato joined. Rev Hahn opened with prayer as State Grandminster M H McDivitt highlighted charity and orphan homes, followed by J P Govei of Madelia filling in for ill Sleepy Eye pastor. Hofmeister’s band then performed a closing concert for a largely successful day.
