New Oxford Welcomes 6th Annual Art and Craft Show
New Oxford readies for the sixth annual Art and Craft Show and Flea Market on Saturday June 30 with thousands expected. Exhibitors from near and far will display antiques art and crafts while cash prizes are offered for oil and watercolor works. The event runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the square with a quilting display apple butter demo sidewalk sale and free prizes for shoppers. Music includes Leona Klunk on the Lowrey organ and Johnnie Schmoker's German Band. Committee heads John Byers and C William Noel have prepared for a large community gathering. In case of rain the events will shift to Saturday.

Vacation School To Close Friday In New Oxford
Approximately 175 children and teachers conclude a two week Christian education program as the 1962 Vacation Church School ends Friday. The Bible and Jesus topics guided various departments, drawing baptized members and other community children into a longtime church effort within New Oxford community life for 18 years.

Monument maker H U Baughman dies at 81 in Dover
H U Baughman 81 a lifelong Dover resident and monument maker for six decades died Saturday night at his home after months of illness. He served on the borough school board for 12 years and was a trustee of Lenhart Gerber Cemetery. Surviving wife Nettie E Jacobs Baughman two sons Nelson M and Dale J five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Salem Union Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The East Berlin Fire Company met with 32 members present at the fire hall on E Locust St. No calls were reported for the month. The group approved buying new uniforms for the parade banner girls. An auditing committee was named and committees for refreshments and carnival solicitation were appointed. A $1,000 donation from the ladies auxiliary was announced. Members will parade in Rocky Ridge Md July, New Oxford July 28, Luthestown August 1, and Greencastle August 1 and 16.
