New Oxford Fire Company carnival to culminate in July parade
Gigantic parade to climax the New Oxford Carnival with a 6 p.m. start on Saturday July 28. July 26 27 and 28 events will feature Andy Reynolds and the 101 Ranch Boys and the Southland Playboys as headliners. Prizes totaling 700 dollars will be awarded for best marching units bands and vehicles. The High School Band will march as a noncompetitive unit. The fire company answered four fires and 17 ambulance calls in June. Seven new drivers were appointed and Richard J Smith named ambulance driver.

The York Springs WCTU unit held a June 8 meeting at the Methodist parish house featuring a Loyal Temperance League speech contest with Connie Dehaven and others. Bermudian Springs Board Elects Two Teachers at Year End Meeting
The Bermudian Springs Joint School District board elected Robert Bolts Gettysburg to teach junior high English at 4500 a year and Dorothy Elgin Fast Berlin to teach sixth grade at East Berlin also at 4500 as they accepted the resignation of George Boyer vocal music instructor. The board discussed seed funding for the athletic field and rescinded 3500 payment to Reisinger Brothers. It approved contracts for David Eby and Donald Morrison and set salaries for custodial staff. Summer recreation opens June 2 with Chronister and Reeder in charge. The district granted use of buildings for shelter and accepted Harry Mummert resignation to Heading Township. Albert Townsend presided with 25 directors present.

Rush Zeigler, 100, Dies. Funeral Held in Lewisberry
Rush Zeigler, a native of Adams County and former farmer and tax collector, died at York View Nursing Home at 100. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Ubrich Funeral Home in Lewisberry. He leaves six children, 127 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 68 great great grandchildren. He was presented a plaque on his 100th birthday by the Pennsylvania Medical Association. Surviving family includes Mary Zeigler, widow, and the Zeigler children in York and Wellsville and Vellaville areas. A late note mentions race events at Lincoln Speedway and URC sprint car race details with unspecified schedule.

Inquest Planned Into Three Deaths In Gettysburg Area
Adams County coroner Dr. C. G. Crist announces an inquest Friday at 4 PM in Gettysburg courthouse for an April 20 automobile crash on the Hatboro Cross Keys road that killed Mr and Mrs Thomas F Cole of Reisterstown Maryland and their three year old grandson Ruswell Thomas Cole. Also killed was the driver Angela Staub 19 New Oxford Pa and critically injured were Rev Calvin H Cole and Calvin Cole Jr less seriously hurt was Rev Cole’s son. The Coles were en route to Gardners for Easter weekend while Staub headed to Hanover.
