Adams County high school seniors competed in Gettysburg on March 1 for state scholarship placements. The top four from the county ranked among the state top 300 with 100 students in the top 500 earning $250 state scholarships. An additional $200 scholarships may be awarded in each county or state senator district. The 10 county top scorers include G Robert Smith, Peggy L Fox, James R Oyler, Philip Close, Gary J Bream, Harold A Lillich, Fred Snyder, Joy R Neidig, Philip M Pitzer, and Richard K Brinton. All county high schools participated, with 76 students taking the test at Gettysburg High School. Next year’s exam will be November 8, with results due in January.

August Picnic Plans For Adams County Home Auxiliary
The Adams County Home Auxiliary met Tuesday to plan an August 13 picnic and covered dish gathering at Caledonia Park and a September benefit supper at Cashtown firemen’s hall. No July meeting. July and August will see therapy programs limited to one day weekly. Activities noted include May 16 movie by G Henry Roth, May 16 services by Fairfield Baptists, and gifts to guests. Two Teachers Elected At Bermudian Springs Board
Bermudian Springs Joint School Board at the high school near York Springs elected two teachers for the term and listed two posts as yet to be filled. Thomas Schreiner was approved as instructor and head football coach at 4200 dollars, Ronald Wagener as art instructor at 5000 dollars, and Glenn Gruver assigned as boys physical educator director. Open bids for a 66 passenger school bus were referred to committee. The board reviewed a state school audit 1954 and considered medical plan quotations. Bills totaling 35262 dollars were paid and the meeting adjourned.

Bowling Team To Be Formed By Nu-Ox Firemen
New Oxford firemen will form a bowling team for next winter to compete in the Firemen's Bowling League at South Hanover Bowling Lanes. Plans for the carnival July 25 26 and 27 are moving ahead. The bicentennial executive committee met at the borough building. Delone urged antique show displays at Delone Catholic High School auditorium from August 5 to 10.
