Hanover taxpayers seek removal of school board members

Meekley Tempeth J Little and Edward F Hamm named in a petition filed July 10 by more than 600 Hanover residents asking their removal. Thomas Bankert and Charles Althoff had resigned before the petition. The court declares the duties of the board mandatory and neglected, removing the former directors. New directors named include Lawrence B Sheppard for the unexpired term ending December 1933. Harry N.

Board Resigns as Petition Faces Default Decree

Five remaining board members after resignations faced a court petition with no appearance or answer. A rule directed them to respond by July 28, but none did. Judge Niles noted blanket resignations and the petitioners sought a decree removing the board in default. Attorney Robert M. Laird urged the motion.

Keefer Fractures Elbow After Fall From Moving Truck

Arthur Keefer, 92, of Gettysburg, suffered a right elbow fracture and severe head laceration when he fell from a moving truck near Latrobe last week. He was treated at Latrobe hospital and received ten stitches for a head wound. The relief driver, R. W. Sitler of Gettysburg, said hydraulic brakes failed to hold on a long grade, and the truck continued for miles before stopping.
