Adams County Wheat Growers Attract Federal Aid Plan

The Adams county wheat growers may receive 95 000 to 68 000 in fall payments if they agree to reduce their Wheat avenue this fall and next spring. Henry A. Wallace secretary of agriculture will fund the plan with 998 000 in metal cash.

State offers cash for wheat acreage reductions in Pa

Secretary Wallace proposes cash payments to Pennsylvania farmers who reduce wheat acreage. York county would receive 254 000 and Lancaster 370 000 with about 2 million total for the state and 1 800 000 payable this year. Farmers decide to participate or not and may form county production control committees.

County committees to distribute farmer farm relief funds

The plan sets county committees as the distributing bodies for relief payments. Each farmer receives about 54 percent of their five year average production, with an estimated 20 percent acreage reduction. Payments go to counties, then to farmers, with books inspected by the agricultural adjustment administration.

Arrest Driver After Mishap Near New Oxford

Hollie C. Minnich of Shermans Dale was jailed on failing to stop at a through sign after a collision on the Lincoln highway east of New Oxford. William F. Lesh, 63, of York, suffered a severe head laceration and was treated by Dr. James P. Paul. The crash involved a truck driven by Minnich and a coach type car driven by Robert W. Klingan, 20, of York. Damage was about $25. Minnich paid a five dollar fine and costs after appearing before Justice W. D. Myers.

East Berlin Cyclist Hart In Carlisle Hospital After Crash

George A. Roberts 22 of East Berlin is in Carlisle hospital with a broken left foot and possible skull fracture after a motorcycle collision with a sedan at the southern edge of Mt. Holly on the Gettysburg Carlisle road. William F. Banks of Harrisburg drove the sedan. Roberts was en route to Mt. Holly and was thrown from his motorcycle when it hit the left front wheel.

July 1933 Marriage Licenses Rise Over 1932 Totals

Clerk C F Palmer reports fourteen more marriage licenses issued in July 1933 than July 1932 and twenty four licenses issued that month. Through seven months, 1933 total licenses exceed the same period in 1932 by fifty three.

Kathleen Black is named an ad winner in the statewide scholarship exam announced by Dr. J N Rule state superintendent. 425 applicants competed with Gettysburg Littlestown Arendtsville New Oxford and Fairfield among participants. The award is a loving cup and May 5 exam date noted.
