The New Holland Woman's Auxiliary to Lancaster General Hospital met at Mrs. Geo. H. Ranek's home with Mrs. A W Snader presiding. Laura Hunter served as secretary pro tem in the secretary’s absence. Minutes from the prior meeting were read and approved.
Miss Ellin M Besore explains no money reuse method via Lancaster Auxiliary subscriptions. Flower committee urged to resume work and jars and glasses for fruit will be provided to citizens helping. The June meeting will be at Mrs N C Hesminger's home.
Three Republican candidates withdrew on Monday leaving one candidate per post. The county committee certifies nominations with no opposition, eliminating the primary. Ticket includes Bord Cassel for Congress and A B Kready for sheriff among others with several county offices listed.
Miss Ellen Stone the ransomed American missionary will visit Lancaster next Wednesday at 8 50 pm under the Young Men’s Christian Association auspices. She will recount captivity in Turkey and Macedonia followed by a stereoscopic Bulgaria views show. Reserved seats cost 40 or 75 cents and proceeds help repay the 65 000 ransom.
Camp 40 of the P O S of A plans Memorial Day events in the borough with a 6 PM service at Ranck church and floral tributes at local cemeteries Zeltenreich Bair and others. Veterans and Sons of America committees will place flowers and members are to gather in the evening. Full details to follow in a later issue.
AVL survivors of the 122d P. We. invite all members to the annual session on Friday May 16 in Post 84 room 604 Lake North Queen Street Patosta AML men of the Regiment and association members are urged to attend. The day includes hard tack and coffee at 11 a.m. election of officers and other business at 1 4 p.m. welcome address and camp fires. Adjutant D. H. Heitsburg chairs the regimental association.
Benjamin Nolt, a well known resident of Bobrata township and a farmer, died at his Murrell home on Monday after about a week of illness from paralysis. He was sixty six and resided in the Earl Bornchaps area until about a year ago. Survived by his wife and three sons and three daughters. Funeral was held Wednesday with interment at Metzler's Mennonite meeting house.
The council met Monday at 8 PM with most members present. Minutes were read and approved as Burgess Wenger reported treasury activity and that bills totaling 2085 dollars were approved for payment. The highway committee cited fences on West Main Street and pipework on Diller Avenue and urged gutter cleaning. A plan to widen and macadamize part of Diller Avenue was adopted. Tree rents for the chamber and lockup were ordered paid. Street light bills and repairs for April were approved. Adjourned.
Mrs a Wy Snider and Miss Marvin M Kitner spent several days in Wilmington. Karl Darrow of Philadelphia and Miss dit A Doorr visited friends in Taineauster and Dowr. Miss Kate Jincobes in Chirebtown was in town several days with others. The Rev T J Bunky of Untoen Biblion Seminary Dayton presided at United Brethren in Mount Joey. Mrs CUA Mateh hosted, while Mrs Solomon Spreeher and daughter with Miss Gillie Diller came from Lancaster Thursday. Other locals including Mrs A B Moore and RO Moore from Lancaster, Mrs HH A Roland, Mrs Tanne Brubaker, Miss Maggie Wolf, Miss Lizzie CL Brubaker, Miss Nellie Rosehoype and Robert Mauchline from various nearby towns spent time visiting and socializing.
A man working near Rising Suns Mal in the Chester county area was arrested in Compassville by Constable George Mowery. He faces charges of stealing a horse from James L. Ratter of Woodlawn Maryland. Harness, blankets, and other gear were found with him. He claims to own the items. He was moved from Parkesburg to Christiana and then to Lancaster jail. authorities plan further action.

Constable Christian May of the borough was alerted by telephone late Monday to pursue a thief. The fugitive was seen at several locations in Salisbury township before being captured at Camillpns after a train pursuit ended.
A party from the city rode a trolley along Lew Yolland road to this borough arriving late afternoon and staying about twenty minutes for supper at the Mechanicsburg hotel. Among the guests were Postmaster 8, Clay Miller, Harry Rauh, Jade Weaver and J. W. Tolman who praised the route’s beauty along New Totland view as the finest in the county.
Miltou Hh Dilfenbaugh and Miss Jeannette Ball Bushong were united in marriage on Monday in a Morice ceremony officiated by Rev. A. Hunter Watts. An elegant luncheon followed before the couple departed by train for the East and will reside after May 1 on South Shipper street, Lam toaster.

On Tuesday Edith Doorn daughter of Daeob Co Daerr proprietor of the New Holland bottling works in this borough was sixteen. Her father presented her with a gold watch and chain to celebrate the event and Edith was surprised and proud.
Stockholders of the New Polhiad Water Company elected A. O W. Sunder TM. Storb Amos Roteer RO. Brubaker and B. J. Muejram to serve for the ensuing year. The directors then organized by electing A. W. Snader president and UT. K. Storb secretary and treasurer.
The New Holland silk mill stopped running on strike by silk dyers in Paterson New Jersey who supply the dye work. It is unclear when production will resume. the mill hopes to restart soon to fulfill current orders.
The sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at Trinity Lutheran Church in this borough on Whitsunday May 18 with preparatory services Friday at 7 30 p m and Whitsunday morning at 9 45 for those unable to attend Friday evening.
Yesterday morning an extra train ran from the Downingtown and Lancaster Railroad station to carry live stock. It departed with five car loads of fat cattle bound for Philadelphia and a carload of horses for New York.
A special Thursday afternoon train of three coaches passed over the Downingtown Lancaster west section carrying General Manager J B Hutchinson and a number of other persons.
