Borough Council Approves New Street Lighting Plan
Borough Council on Wednesday night agreed to revamp the lighting system with three modern fixture types by Pennsylvania Power and Light. Intersections will see stronger lights and regular lamps increased in power. The city will gain 5.2 times more effective lighting at roughly double the cost. Main street lights will be mounted on 25 ft wooden poles. The council also passed first reading of an ordinance to install parking meters. No action on the burgess resignation.

Three veterans organizations cooperated to mark Memorial Day by visiting about seventeen cemeteries to decorate graves of veterans from all wars and firing salutes.
