Annual Hollaht Meeting Company Picnic in Community Park

The New Hollaht Meeting Company picnic will be held Saturday August 14 in Community Park Lancaster County expects nearly 5000 attendees this year following last year’s crowd of over 3500. Contests for children and adults professional entertainment and prizes are planned with a large volunteer committee led by George C Delp and a grounds committee headed by Al Hunsicker.

Folk singer Lie Arnold and band Folk are set to headline the New Holland Carnival. Five big carnivals are planned to be staged at the venue, with Catnantinie listed among the featured acts.

Henry H. Martin, seventy, of Bareville died Wednesday at his home after a short illness. He was a son of the late John and Catharine Hirst Martin and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church. Surviving are his children Hetie, Suie, Ella Martin, Annie wife of Clayton Oberholtzer of Ephrata R 2, Katie and Samuel Martin at home, Fannie wife of John Martin of Hohenwald Tenn, Lizzie wife of Daniel Nolt of New Holland R 2, Jennie wife of Daniel Warner of East Earl R 1, forty five grandchildren, a brother Emanuel Martin of Sheridan R 1, Mary wife of Grabill Zimmerman and Leah Martin of Lititz R 4, Ada wife of Titus Bowman of Wallenstein Ontario Canada. Funeral from the late home Monday at 1 30 then Groffdale Mennonite Church at 2 30. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

Death of Abraham B. Stauffer at son’s home in Ephrata

Abraham B. Stauffer died at his son David W. Stauffer’s home in Ephrata R3 after a lingering illness. He was 76, son of the late David and Elizabeth Stauffer of Earl Township. Survived by children David W., Barbara Risser, Martha Stauffer Myerstown, Mary Rousseau Paradise, plus 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was a Pike Mennonite Church member.

New Holland Borough Authority Awards Water Pipe Contract

The R. D. Wood Co. of Philadelphia won the water main and fittings contract at a total cost of 7,088.76 dollars. The award covers pipe fittings gloves service boxes and 1,000 feet of 12 inch water main for distribution improvements in the borough water system.

AmVets Post in the borough met Monday night in the Styer & Evans Building. Post Commander Robert Schroll presided. Plans were discussed for the carnival on Saturday July 31.
