The Evangelical United Brethren Church will observe Children's Day on Sunday morning at 10:15 o clock. Ranck's United Brethren Church will hold events at 7:80 p m for children’s services.
St Stephen Reformed holds a Sunday service at 10 15 outdoors at the east end with three committees guiding the children’s program. Zeltenreich Reformed Sunday School pupils present a Children’s Day program in church at 10 45 am with theme Home led by Harold Howe Earl Weaver Rosene Howe and others.
The New Hollaht Meeting Company picnic will be held Saturday August 14 in Community Park Lancaster County expects nearly 5000 attendees this year following last year’s crowd of over 3500. Contests for children and adults professional entertainment and prizes are planned with a large volunteer committee led by George C Delp and a grounds committee headed by Al Hunsicker.
The New Holland Alumni Banquet will be held tonight in the New Holland High School auditorium. Rev. Amos L. Seldomridge will give the invocation and R. Warren Mentzer will welcome. John T. Auld will present the class of 1948 with Enoch Frankhouser delivering the response.
Folk singer Lie Arnold and band Folk are set to headline the New Holland Carnival. Five big carnivals are planned to be staged at the venue, with Catnantinie listed among the featured acts.
Henry H. Martin, seventy, of Bareville died Wednesday at his home after a short illness. He was a son of the late John and Catharine Hirst Martin and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church. Surviving are his children Hetie, Suie, Ella Martin, Annie wife of Clayton Oberholtzer of Ephrata R 2, Katie and Samuel Martin at home, Fannie wife of John Martin of Hohenwald Tenn, Lizzie wife of Daniel Nolt of New Holland R 2, Jennie wife of Daniel Warner of East Earl R 1, forty five grandchildren, a brother Emanuel Martin of Sheridan R 1, Mary wife of Grabill Zimmerman and Leah Martin of Lititz R 4, Ada wife of Titus Bowman of Wallenstein Ontario Canada. Funeral from the late home Monday at 1 30 then Groffdale Mennonite Church at 2 30. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
Abraham B. Stauffer died at his son David W. Stauffer’s home in Ephrata R3 after a lingering illness. He was 76, son of the late David and Elizabeth Stauffer of Earl Township. Survived by children David W., Barbara Risser, Martha Stauffer Myerstown, Mary Rousseau Paradise, plus 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was a Pike Mennonite Church member.

Viola Lorraine Gerhart daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel Gerhart of East Earl married Harold H Martin son of Mr and Mrs Adam Martin Bareville R 1 at 2 PM Saturday in the bride’s living room. The Rev John Buyers officiated and the couple planned a reception for 75 guests before departing for a trip to Wildwood New Jersey.
Miss Gladys M. Lowry and Robert L. Lambert married in a morning ceremony at the New Holland Evangelical United Brethren Church. Rev. Ira R. Fortna officiated the double ring service with Ruth Bragg and Robert Kauffman in attendance. Both spouses work in the advertising department at New Holland Machine Company.
The R. D. Wood Co. of Philadelphia won the water main and fittings contract at a total cost of 7,088.76 dollars. The award covers pipe fittings gloves service boxes and 1,000 feet of 12 inch water main for distribution improvements in the borough water system.
The Rev Ira R Fortna pastor of Evangelical United Brethren Church spoke at the New Holland Lions Club dinner introduced by Rev C G Bachman. President Wayne B Ranck led the meeting and John M Miller of New Holland Machine Company attended as guest. Borough Manager J B E Russell was welcomed as a Lions transfer from State College.
Miss Senta Von Ehrenfried performed a bubble gum pantomime at the New Holland Rotary Club gathering led by President Ivan A. Shirk. Other acts included Marian Fortna on piano solo and Melvin Martin as vocal soloist. Clair Musselman led the club singing.
AmVets Post in the borough met Monday night in the Styer & Evans Building. Post Commander Robert Schroll presided. Plans were discussed for the carnival on Saturday July 31. Roland Richwind resumed duties as Post Adjutant. A report on the softball league sponsored by the Post noted better organization this season.
Mrs. Theodore Keares and her daughter greeted Archbishop Demetria Keares after a service led by Archbishop Athena Goras of New York. The moment was captured in the Lancaster New Era.
The Daily Vacation Bible School run jointly by the Evangelical United Brethren and the Methodist Church reports an enrollment of 95 children. The session will continue for another week in the U B Church.

Earl Lodge No. 418 I O O F of New Holland plans a town canvass the week of June 14 to 19 to fund a memorial fountain in New Holland Community Park honoring popular local athlete Lewis Schnupp. Donations may be left with George F. Before at Farmers National Bank.
The showing of the picture film entitled Pennsylvania will be a feature of the Y M B League meeting on Tuesday evening June 15 at the Lutheran Parish House. The event marks 100 percent night and Lions and Rotary Club members have been invited to view the film.
