Council to award water main project contract

Borough Council opened eight bids for a water transmission main chlorinating house and equipment. Bids ranged from 42 586.19 to 56 961.85 and will be tabulated by engineer William A. Goff before a later council meeting to award the contract.

United Brethren Church to Hold Watchnight Service

A three hour Watchnight Service at the United Brethren Church begins at 9 pm on Sunday with The Happy Clarks, Radio Gospel Singers from Philadelphia, opening a two week engagement aiding evangelistic services nightly through January 14 excluding Mondays. Reverend F C Aungst will preach each service. The evening ends with a candlelight consecration and a one act drama called Decision featuring local participants.

The Bee Tree Hunt Club recalls a farcical incident involving H. B. Slack of Intercourse the trap expert. Slack tried a buck hunt with clay target logic and fired when a deer appeared. A second shot from his left ended the chase as the buck fell.
