The New Holland Community Welfare Association reports the 1939 canvass for funds, to be distributed by the Lancaster Welfare Federation to county charities and local welfare emergencies. District reports are listed with a total exceeding last year.
New Holland Lions host a ladies night meeting at Tecien Home on Tuesday with Santa Claus distributing gifts. A film project and upcoming show dates were announced, and a long list of Lions and their ladies attended.

Borough Council opened eight bids for a water transmission main chlorinating house and equipment. Bids ranged from 42 586.19 to 56 961.85 and will be tabulated by engineer William A. Goff before a later council meeting to award the contract.

They visited Harold Weber who is taking a Ringling School of Art course in commercial art and entertaining with juggling and tap dancing routines noted in Florida news columns for their applause.

A Watchnight service will be held on Sunday at 10 15 p.m. in the Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational Church.

A three hour Watchnight Service at the United Brethren Church begins at 9 pm on Sunday with The Happy Clarks, Radio Gospel Singers from Philadelphia, opening a two week engagement aiding evangelistic services nightly through January 14 excluding Mondays. Reverend F C Aungst will preach each service. The evening ends with a candlelight consecration and a one act drama called Decision featuring local participants.
The Bee Tree Hunt Club recalls a farcical incident involving H. B. Slack of Intercourse the trap expert. Slack tried a buck hunt with clay target logic and fired when a deer appeared. A second shot from his left ended the chase as the buck fell.

Dorothy G. Eshleman daughter of Mr and Mrs H F Eshleman of 213 Pearl Street Lancaster wed James A. Gilfillan son of Robert G Gilfillan of New Holland. The event included a party at Shady Rest Tea Room with a April 16 1938 ceremony at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Bel Air Maryland officiated by Rev Michael Joseph Kippenbrock.

Rev. Percy B. Crawford, leader of the Young People’s Church of the Air, broadcasting on Station WIP Philadelphia, will conduct a service at Cedar Grove Church on Sunday evening December 31 at 7 30. He will be accompanied by his quartette.
