New Holland Young Men's Republican Club marked its first anniversary with an election at the American Legion Home. No contest for treasurer or secretary due to a resignation. Crowds Attend Christmas Carol Service at School

The fifth annual Carol Service by the New Holland Schools Glee Clubs filled the auditorium with 250 carolers marching in by candlelight. William D. Burley directed the performance featuring Mildred Palmer in O Holy Night and a modern carol Father Send a Child Again. Glenn Wright accompanied the program.

G. O. P. Auxiliary to Meet in New Holland

The Women's Republican Auxiliary of New Holland meets Thursday December 28 at 7 30 p m in the Farmers Bank Building. Entertainment includes ten cent gifts, an open forum and refreshments. Members are urged to bring friends.

Detention of Schoolboy Over Barn Fires in East Earl

Private J L Brennan and F M Stauffer apprehended a twelve year old boy who confessed to starting fires that destroyed a barn on Aaron Snader’s farm and a garage on David Martin’s farm. Total losses exceed $8,800. The youth was held for juvenile court.

Narvon Man Hurt by Flying Wood Block in Sawing Accident

Rudolph Northeimer twenty six of Narvon Lancaster General Hospital was admitted with a fractured skull and forehead laceration after a circular saw threw a block of wood into the air striking him at his home about 2 30 p m Monday His condition was improving last night Attendants at the hospital said he was injured when a wood piece eight inches in diameter and twelve inches long was thrown into the air by the saw His brother John took him to Blue Ball for first aid before hospital transport

Obituary of Reuben S. Martin at 86 in New Holland

Reuben S. Martin, eighty six, died at his son in law and daughter Allen W. and Ellen W. Martin New Holland R. 1 at 7 a m Tuesday after eleven weeks of illness. He belonged to the Martindale Mennonite church. He is survived by his daughter six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a brother Abraham of New Holland R. 1. Funeral from the late home Saturday at 1 p m to Weaverland Mennonite church at 1 30 p m. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Ruth Overly and Emerson Snader Married at Parsonage

Miss Ruth E Overly daughter of Mr and Mrs D C Overly of New Holland and Emerson H Snader son of Samuel E Snader of Ephrata were united in marriage last evening at 8 oclock at the United Brethren parsonage by Rev F C Aungst. The ring ceremony was used. They will reside at Leacock after January 1.

King's Daughters Visit Welsh Mountain Mission

On Monday afternoon twenty seven members and friends of the Loyal Workers Circle of Kings Daughters traveled to the Welsh Mountain Mission. They sang carols read the Christmas story and offered prayer. A gift was presented to Mrs Annie Mason. Inmates were visited and given candy and an orange.
