Joseph 8 Graybill, seventy seven, retired farmer and Mennonite church leader, died of bronchial pneumonia at his home on Broad Street in the borough at 6 50 am Tuesday after ten days illness. He served as superintendent of Delaware Mennonite Church Juniata County and later New Holland church, was a deacon since 1926, and chaired the Good Samaritan Mennonite Home in Welsh Mountains. He was a member of the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities and retired in 1927 to live in the borough.

A birthday party was held at Harry Nagle's home to celebrate his 67th birthday on Sunday with a serenade by the Knights of Malta Band of Lancaster. He received a Leedy Concert King snare drum from his wife and son and daughter-in-law, and a drum case from Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Futer. The band performed a concert in his honor followed by lunch for band members, families, and guests including Rufus Diem Pauline Diem and Mary Mellinger.
Leola Memorial Methodist church will hold New Year services each night from January 7 to 14 except Saturday. Visiting speakers include Rev. Leroy Bernard on Monday Rev. W. Lester S. Bair of New Holland and Miss Virginia Imhoff of Ephrata married Saturday evening at 8 at the Reformed parsonage in New Holland. Rev. C. G. Bach man officiated. Attendants were Clyde I. Brimmer and Miriam Hall, both of New Holland. They will reside in New Holland.
Eckert Yost announces the marriage of Miss Iva Yost of New Holland and Warren Eckert of Leacock. The ceremony was held Saturday evening December 238 at the Churchtown Methodist church parsonage with Rev. M Corwin Taylor officiating. The couple will reside in a newly furnished Leacock apartment.
Katie Z Martin daughter of Mr and Mrs David W Martin Jr and Isaac B Hoover son of Mrs Ida Hoover both of Groffdale were married by Bishop Joseph E Hostetter at the bride's parents home on Sunday morning December 24 at 8 30. Attendants were Robert Risser Irene Zimmerman Emma Zeiser and Paul Ranck with gift receivers Mrs David Hoover and Mrs Amos Reiff. Ushers were Amos Rieff and David Hoover. Ninety four guests attended a post ceremony dinner. The couple will reside on a Springville Pennsylvania farm after a short trip.
