Woman Hurt As Car Skids On Wet Street
Mrs. John Witman of West Main street was struck by a car driven by C. M. Groff after stepping into traffic to bid farewell to relatives. She received scalp lacerations needing fifteen stitches, plus bruises and shock. Doctors treated her at home and later arranged transport to the Osteopathic Hospital in Lancaster for observation.

Milk Shipment Marks First Rail Route to Philadelphia
From the Clarion August 11 1883 the week notes milk shipped from this station to Philadelphia marking the first product moved over the new railroad. Isaac N Diller of Laurelville was the shipper. D Smith Talbot Esq of West Chester plans a large hotel on the Sassafras race course on the Welsh mountains. The Evangelical church at Fairville rebuilt after a lightning fire was dedicated last Sunday with Bishop Bowman and Elders Fehr Bomberger and Martin presiding. Over six hundred teams gathered in the church yard plus about two thousand attendees for the services. Joanna Heights Camp meetings grow with 205 cottages this season and about fifteen hundred people on the grounds and attendance rising last Sunday.
