Commissioners outline juvenile home policy and repairs
Commissioners disclosed that youths stay at the county juvenile detention home no more than 72 hours before transfer to Mercer County. Commissioner Frank A. Vitril and Commissioner Thomas A. Shumaker explained the policy will hold until renovations are finished. They have allocated about 242000 dollars for renovation of the county home, detention home, and courthouse, noting disturbances in barrack-like rooms and limited ability to isolate children. The panel also scheduled a July 4 meeting with Red Cross to discuss recreation facilities at the home. George S. Kaufman died June 2, 1971.
