Mrs Phie Creason Holmes, wife of Rev. Holmes, died Saturday afternoon at the Braddock Methodist Episcopal church parsonage from pneumonia. Born April 4 in Connellsville, Crawford County, Pa, she led a life of active church, mission, and teaching service in Beaver, Allegheny, and surrounding communities. Survivors include her husband and four children. funeral services were held at the Braddock church with a later burial in Connellsville.
A crowded public event on Wednesday at South Jefferson drew many friends and local figures. Dr. Randolph and Dr. Harris presided while numerous personal friends attended, with attendees including local residents Mandy and Mrs. A. M. Flowers, and others from nearby towns.
