Beginning October 1 the Myrtle Point Herald will charge 95 50 yearly for inside Coos County an increase of 1 The current subscribers have 30 days to renew at the old 4 50 rate Outside Coos County the yearly rate rises to 6 and stand copies cost 15 cents Each issue now remains 10 cents for individual copies, a long standing practice in Southwestern Oregon.

A new Myrtle Point Athletic Club MPAC formed by a steering committee led by Doug Sinko held its first meeting September 5 with about 45 attendees. The club aims to enhance athletics recreation and fitness, work with the school district and city, and fund track facilities improvements at Myrtle Crest site costing an estimated 5 000 dollars.

Library marks 90th anniversary with Sept reception
The Fiera M. Laird Memorial Library observed its 90th anniversary Wednesday evening September 18 with a reception hosted by Ebert and former Myrtle Point Mayor Eron Schroeder. Speakers included Mayor Ervin Wilberger Ima Lehmanowsky Marie Lundy Florence Summerlis and Ruthelien Gassman. Father Ken Steiner gave the invocation and Rev Harold W. Smith delivered the benediction. Entertainment featured a high school sax quartet Bruce Schroeder Pam Henshaw Don Dagit Virginia Evans and the New Vibrations. Pearl Mast chaired the program. Library board members present included Dorothy Demest Marvin Simons Curt Beckham Joan Poehnitz and Mrs Lehmanowsky.
