Myrthe Point High School launches a career education simulation led by Ken Cook. Students disassemble and reassemble two and four cycle motors to study functions, while visitors observe during the day. The program aims to expand with night classes for adults and beginners. NMSC reports commendations list names, addresses, scores, and anticipated majors from the PSA1/NMSQT October 1973 testing.
Georgia Pacific closes timberlands in western Oregon to hunting due to extreme fire danger. Curriculum coordinators for grades 1-12 in the Myrtle Point school system are leading a district wide course of study effort. MPHS announces mid November production of the off Broadway musical You're a Good Man Charlie Brown based on Charles M Schulz Peanuts. Myrtle Point travels to Scappoose for a high school football clash at 8:00 p.m. The Bobcats own a 2-1 mark while Scappoose sits at 7-1. Scappoose features a balanced Indians attack and experienced offense. Myrtle Point plans to air it out more this season.
About 4500 voters in Coos County were removed from the registration list after the Secretary of State purge over undeliverable voters pamphlets. Only 500 returned updated addresses. If you did not receive a May primary pamphlet, verify registration at the Election Department in Coquille. Final November registration closes October 5, 1974. Between 1963 and 1973 nearly 17 million jobs were added in new or expanding industries.
The Siskiyou National Forest launches a land use planning study covering 495000 acres identified as the Rogue Illinois Planning Unit. Forest Supervisor William P. Ronayne notes roadless areas totaling about 157000 acres will be analyzed for demand, need, and suitability, with public involvement emphasized as maps and fact sheets circulate.
