The School Lay Committee met with about 30 on hand to study District 41 needs. Reports show Myrtle Crest and Myrtle Point high school fall short of state acreage standards and face enrollment and space challenges. The next meeting is October 28 to elect officers.

Telephone Service To Improve In Myrtle Point Area

The Myrtle Point area advances in replacing ten party lines with five or fewer. New cables along Broadbent River Road Catching Creek Road and South Catching Creek Road add over sixteen miles of aerial and buried cable. An additional 22 000 feet of buried cable runs from Arago Road up Halls Creek Road.

Myrtle Point Boosters elect officers after Friday game

The Myrtle Point Boosters club met after the football game on Friday September 20. Officers elected were Bill Gassman president Keith Meal vice president and Delores Neal secretary treasurer. The Roosters plan next meeting October 4 after the Mapleton game.

Oregon State University science educators publish a 600 term space dictionary for grades four to eight. Dr Stanley Williamson leads the project with graduate assistants who scanned hundreds of books and articles to select common space terms for classroom use.
