Lions club members worked three hours and twenty minutes Sunday to prepare the new tennis court in Rotary Park for surfacing. The project, ongoing for years, will be finished by Woodward Son and Barklow this fall with asphalt paving costing about 1500 dollars.
September 17 game on Coquille field saw Myrtle Point JV overpower Coquille JV 21 to 0. Troy Jones intercepted a pass and returned 40 yards for the first score. Jim Mac Kerrow added the extra point.
Coquille Junior Varsity rolled to a 21-0 victory as Richard Belloni ran 65 yards and 20 yards for the Bobcats touchdowns. MacKerrow added an extra point and a rushing score while Roger Barklow Troy Jones and Dennis Waterman led with 11 unassisted tackles.

Myrtle Point Bobcats travel to Winston Friday night for an 8 p.m. showdown with the Douglas Trojans seeking a third straight win after recent wins over Coquille 26 13 and Sutherlin 12 6. Big men Fullbeck and Withers anchor the Trojan lineup.
Funeral services for Preston Francis Caffey of Myrtle Point are set for 11 a.m. today at Myrtle Crest Memorial Gardens. The Rev John Woods will officiate. Caffey, born November 4, 1885 in Lebanon Missouri, died September 21 in Coquille at 78. Surviving are wife Amaze Stokes Caffey, sons Clifford and Clay, a son in California, sisters Effie Gomery Springfield and Ada Caffey Les Aina California, and four grandchildren.
The Port of Coquille River will levy a tax for 1965-66 for the first time since 1927. Port Commission President Thomas Forrest announced a $4,998.30 levy based on the 1925 tax base plus six percent, following a commission meeting in Myrtle Point on September 18.
The Myrtle Point High School Boosters Club schedules a business meeting Tuesday September 29 at 8 p.m. in the high school biology room to discuss athletics and movie nights for the Walport game. Membership is one dollar.
City sealing of sealed asphalt on C Street and Harris between C and 4th, plus from the south end of H to Maple's south boundary, enters curing for about 30 days per City Manager Ben Nichols. The work, funded by the city, aims to extend pavement life under a contract with Woodward Son and Barklow for Maryland Avenue paving.
Myrtle Point Bobcats steamrolled Waldport Irish Friday night on the local gridiron 82-6. Myrtle Point scored on an 8th play from 32 yards and dominated time of possession. Franzen added four rushing TDs including a 30 yard effort, with a late 12 yard pass from Grant for a TD before Waldport answered with Charles Wade’s 6 yard score.
