September 30 schedule notes registration begins at 9 a.m. Bemed Geldhaumer, power manager of Bonneville Power Administration, will be guest speaker and will talk at 11:15 a.m. The annual meeting opens at 10 a.m.
The 1967 Washington Youth Town wingers present candidate zones for the board of directors. Zone 2 incumbent Ed Thornton faces reelection. Zone 4 replaces Ray Keen with Thomas Hawkins, Charles Knox, and Frederic H. Starkweather Jr. Zone 7 replaces Farrell T. Rankin with Thor Jamsgard F L Rema and R E Doyle. Ballots mailed. meetings close at 11 am with results at 3 pm.

Mrs. Edna M. Daniels 66, a Gaylord and Myrtle Point Herald correspondent for 18 years, died in Coos Bay. Formerly Edna Strong, she was married to Reese Daniels in 1916. She served as Gaylord post mistress for 14 years and a postal employee 24 years, writing Gaylord news since 1949. Survived by husband, children, siblings, and grandchildren. services held at Myrtle Point chapel with burial at Myrtle Crest Memorial Garden.
George C Horner of Bridge died Monday at 68 after a life in the area since 1944. Born February 21 1899 in South Bend Washington he married Lottie on September 29 1920 in Gold Beach. Services today at 10 30 a m in the Myrtle Point chapel with interment at Norway Cemetery. Reverend Dave Patterson will officiate. Survivors include his widow sons Curtis George Ronald and others daughters Ethyl and Bernice, brother Victor, sisters Maudeen Grace and Helen, twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
District 41 hired Joyce Sixberry to teach French at the high school replacing Margaret Schuddakoph. The board granted release time for Catholic Church activities, allowing one hour weekly after school for religious sessions. Bridge students may join Myrtle Crest football after school with own transportation. The board planned bi monthly meetings at different schools starting October 27 at Myrtle Crest. Temperatures reached 95.5 in town with record highs noted from summer.
A teen named James from Bay Cities was hurt in a Tuesday morning accident while returning home from work at the Georgie Pacific Coe ville plant. He was taken to Maat Hospital then transferred to Bay Cities McAsley where he remained in good condition.
Lula Liddle a Sitkum resident since 1959 died Saturday September 16 in Myrtle Point at age 75. Born August 19 1890 in Marion Iowa to John and Francis Beckner she moved to Oregon in 1959 and lived with daughter LaVerma Stamen. She was a member of the Christian Church of Marion Iowa and Dora Friendly Club. Graveside services held Tuesday at Myrtle Crest Memorial Garden with Rev Ortis Doty officiating.
James Hunt aged 52 of Glen Aken Creek steered a failing Elmer Benham cement truck down Maple Street hill in Myrtle Point. With no brakes he backed the vehicle to the bottom, then steered into an empty Hancock Station. The truck tipped onto its side. Hunt was treated at Mast Hospital and released.
