County fair list shows premium awards for SH livestock including Chester White sows and boars, Jersey cattle and calves, and Shropshire and Cotswold lamb classes. The Coos County tax delinquent realty case will be heard Saturday October 6 with a scheduled tax sale on October 9. Appointments include Dr J H Bennett named for the north end. Coos County Fair prize awards split among Myrtle Point and others

Myrtle Point and Smith Hughes students shared $1000 in prizes at the Coos County Fair for top projects. Winners include Jack Warner first prize $1000, Vernon Trigg $750, Vern Hermann $750, Hollis Mast $500, and others across four best all around and four best project groups at Myrtle Point, Coquille, Bandon, and Coquille chapters.

Councilmen Meet Complete Budget at Myrtle Paint City Council

The Myrtle Paint city council, with all members except Dave McNair present, denied Lauris E Hill of Marshfield permission to open a wine and delicatessen store. The budget was completed at the same meeting and will appear next week in The Herald.

Club Women Meet In Eugene Soon

A combined second district annual meeting and fourth quarterly meeting of the Lane County Federation of Women’s Clubs will be held in Eugene on October 10 and 11. Mrs J E Norton of Coquille is president of the district and Mrs Belle Lydick of Eugene presides over Lane County. Full program to be announced later.

Granges Award Prizes at Coos County Fair

Granges of Coos County presented skits at the fair with Myrtle Grange winning 15 dollars for top prize Fairview Grange earning 10 dollars for second and Bridge Grange receiving a third prize amount not stated. Coquille Grange won 5 dollars for best attendance donated by the Pomona Grange. Myrtle staged Mellerdrummer Fairview performed Eskimo tales while Bridge hosted a watermelon eating contest.

Fiddlers Contest and Townsend Club Events Readied

Myrtle Point Townsend club hosts an evening of songs speeches and a Townsend plan talk by C A Roberson of Coquille. Attendees from Coquille and nearby groups discuss the Townsend movement with plans for a Chicago convention and future fiddlers contests.

Coos County Fair Delivers Large Attendance and Celebrated Events

The 24th annual Coos County Fair drew hundreds from Coos and nearby counties for exhibits livestock and displays. Races were fast over three days with strong starts by Harry Woods of Palo Alto California. Clowning by J Yoakum and partner Marshfield acts, and clever pantomime by Chas Brown provided entertaining afternoons. The Fair board marks 1935 as a banner year and requests outstanding bills be presented promptly while listing award recipients in upcoming issues.

Gould Family Reunion Held Sunday at Bandon Cabin

A Gould family reunion gathered at the Dr James Richmond cabin in Bandon on Sunday. Barn Fire Spreads On Highway Near Myrtle Point

Mr and Mrs J M Wagner of Broadbent discovered a fast spreading barn fire on the Dee Case ranch four miles from Myrtle Point on the Roseburg highway. Firefighters battled dry grass fire but gained control. no residents on the ranch at present.

Future Farmers Work in County Outlined at Fair

The Future Farmers of America with 90 000 members nationwide showcased county chapters at the fair. Coquille led with 56 members and 19 dairy head while Bandon displayed 56 dairy stock entries and 11 sheep. Riverton and Coos River presented dairy stock and farm shop exhibits, and Myrtle Point sent 64 boys with a State Farmer degree in Smith Hughes agriculture. Junior High SERA Work Again Halted

Work at the Junior High school halted as delays by SERA and dog teams slowed progress. Officials hope enough workers will complete the site to move upper grades soon, while a WPA project amendment seeks to finish current work and allow new tasks. No decision on the application has been heard.

State Librarian Meets With Cops Association

Miss Harriet Long state Librarian met with the Library board Saturday morning. County Librarians’ association met at Bandon with librarians from across the county in attendance. Auto Jack Slips Injures Man In Fairview

Donald Phillips injured when two car jacks slipped while he worked on his vehicle at home in Fairview. The weight of the car axle fell on his right arm between wrist and elbow, he was extracted with help from neighbors and taken to Coquille hospital where Dr Rankin found no fractures. Miss Johnson suffered a strained neck during the lift but both parties recover.
