An 18 month old Myrtle Point child Harold Williams swallowed paint thinner while visiting near Bridge. Deputy Sheriff George Yellett halted the Williams car for construction, rushed the child and mother to Mast hospital, where he was treated and released in satisfactory condition. The parents believe he drank the thinner from a soda bottle while playing outside with older children.
The article confirms Charles Mahaffey, a Democrat, is named to fill a county court vacancy. Miss Marion Horsfall secretary of the Coos County Community Concert Association will mail membership cards to all members on September 18. If not received by September 25 notify Miss Horsfall at PO Box 570 Coos Bay or call 267 7631. The first concert of the season is set for October 3.
Mrs Leta F E Neugart, 58, died after a long illness. She married her husband on Christmas Day 1985 in Corvallis. The couple moved to Myrtle Point 19 years ago. A lifelong invalid due to childhood disease, she passed away this week. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 pm in Chapel with John Woods officiating. Graveside services follow at Albany Memorial Park. Friends may donate to a high school scholarship in lieu of flowers.

Ted Cook spoke at the Myrtle Hotel about sport sky diving. He demonstrated free falls, body positions, and chute control, noting costs and training. Coach Bob Pottliven’s Myrtle Point Bobcats beat an opponent with a string of scorers led by Richard Armstrong and Richard Gassman.
