The Myrtle Point city council meets Tuesday Sept 7 at 7 30 p m after Labor Day. The chamber of commerce gathers Sept 7 at noon in the Myrtle Hotel. Coos County collection committee sets Sept 7 at 7 15 p m in Myrtle Hotel.

Promotion Day Set At Church

Sunday September 5 will feature Pro. Scherpf and John Dayton who will sing with piano accompaniment by Mischery Haney. Students entering third grade will be promoted to new classes. The church school picnic follows the service at Davenport Grove. All members and friends are invited.

Dr Clarke’s Burial in Sunset Memorial Park

Dr Clarke, who began practicing medicine in Myrtle Point after arriving in 1016, died August 23 in Coquille at 85. He was born February 4, 1880 in Berkeley, Mass. Surviving are sons Robert of San Francisco and Oliver of Westwood California, daughter Genevieve Preston of Cheeshire, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
