Wade Leo Ray known as Cool Pooner died Sunday October 24 1937 in Myrtle Point at 71 after months of illness. Born March 13 1866 in Otoe county Nebraska he married Nellie M King in 1890 and had seven children Maurice Nay Calvin Ray and others. He moved to Oregon in 1901 living at Rebertea and later Myrtle Point. He was a longtime Grange member and former master, Modern Woodmen officer, and active in the Tesneend movement. Funeral services were held at Schroeder Funeral Home with burial at Norway Cemetery.
Clarence Hugh Freese of Myrtle Point was fined four dollars and costs for riding without an operator on October 26. Veena Orlean Foster of Myrtle Point was fined ten dollars and costs for operating with no permit on October 37. Frank Craghten of Myrtle Beach was fined five dollars and costs for operating a vehicle without a driver. Lenie Hensley Curtins of Bridge was fined three dollars and costs for having no air or clearance lights on a truck.
The Myrtle Point Womans club met in October at city hall. Mrs Henry Schroeder chaired the program featuring Mrs W G Barrow Marshfield county Red Cross president, who announced Mrs E C Barker as local Red Cross chairwoman. Phyllis Bollon and Dorothy Pearson played a piano duet, and Mrs L A LaFlamme read. Light refreshments followed. The club invites donations of old tennis racquets for repair to aid youths using the municipal court.
The second meeting of the Junior Woman's club will be held Monday evening at the home of Mrs Austin Dodge. The yearbooks will be distributed at this meeting. The hostesses will be Mrs. Roy Garrett and Mrs. Harold Carver and refreshments will be served at o'clock. Visitors are cordially welcomed.

A man from the Reckard logging camp on Com River died when a bulldozer crashed through a bridge over Beasey Creek near the Tom Snauth and Damnels places. He sustained a fatal skull fracture in the accident Wednesday while riding the machine.
A local picket line formed Monday at the vast forum yard attracted attention this week as workers from Smith Wood Products at Coquille affiliated with the AFL. The dispute centers on handling some output and labor agitation is linked to the union.

Chase family visited Creswell, Mary O Howe mother, Margaret stayed in Eugene, game attended. returned to Portland. Mrs C B Murphy of Bridge and Mrs Florence Miller returned from Portland after two weeks.
A VFW district meeting was held Friday Oct 22 in Myrtle Point with men at city hall and women at the VFW hall. Guests traveled from Roseburg and Marshfield as officials from Eugene Portland Corvallis attended. After the regular session, the post and auxiliary served hot tamales sandwiches and coffee at the VFW hall while speeches were given by visiting officers and toastmistress Mrs Albert Pancoast. The group then moved on to Medford for another district meeting the following night.
The Fair Board lists color and white embroidery winners from Coquille Myrtle Point Arago and surrounding towns. First prize recipients include Mrs Alice Baker and Mrs Elizabeth Bennett with multiple winners from Coquille and Myrtle Point. Continued on page 6.

MP Bobcats led by Sam Dement and Alvin Sprague dominate North Bend, scoring multiple touchdowns and interceptions. Sprague and Danville drive early and late, Dement returns a kickoff and scores, while Ziegler and Kelly add key gains. North Bend struggles with turnovers and penalties as MP clinches the win.
The 99 Men’s Bible class hosted the Women’s Good Cheer Circle at the Church of Christ for a banquet featuring baked salmon salads corn beans potatoes cake and coffee. Charles Bowers and wife arranged the menu with Rev F H Barr delivering the welcome, Harold Golden addressing Our Opportunity in Myrtle Point, and talks on What Men Are Doing and What Women Are Doing. Mrs Ethel Miller and Mrs Erl Adams spoke on future plans and the next banquet.
Townsend club members heard H M MacLean compare Townsend progress to growth in the automobile industry. Walter Laird played a piano duet that drew hearty applause. News arrived of the death of charter member W Lee Ray, first president of the Myrtle Point club. Next Sunday's peculia will be presented by Dr W W Baynes.
Coquille's Red Devils travel to face the Bobcats at 2 p.m. Saturday to shake up the county standings. Myrtle Point and Coquille have posted mixed results this season with North Bend and Marshfield recent losses and big wins over Bandon. A rally with yell leaders Ellen Carver and Phyllis Belloni will precede the game Friday night.

Couples span Coquille, North Bend, Drain, Myrtle Point, Empire, Eugene, and Charleston with ceremonies at homes, parsonages, and churches.
At Floyds Cafe Tuesday night Verlin Hermann winner of the American Farmer degree was the main speaker at the Chamber of Commerce dinner as three local FFA representatives Eugene Bartlett Eldon Hermann and instructor R W Schaad attended the Portland International Livestock Exposition. The meeting outlined plans for a Community Benefit drive with several local members noted in attendance.

Mrs Ella Bryant unearthed an almost perfect Indian arrowhead during digging at Pleasant Valley. The find, from rock similar to local strata, is rare for the area and nearby dirt revealed bullet lead suggesting a historic skirmish with Indiana settlers at that site.
A headon collision near Bandon injured picnickers including Oliver, son of Arage, and a New Yorker, Michael Teen, whose car veered onto the wrong side. The automobile was a total wreck and the victims sustained cuts and bruises as onlookers arrived.
