County court orders payment of 23 to Georg Hampton of Atago to support a county booth at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition. Hampton has contributed to scouting efforts. project funds aid continued local display at the fair. Real estate notices list offerings in Woodlawn addition and other transactions in Coos County. Several lawsuits, bankrupts, and deeds are filed including yard sales and property transfers.
Myrtle Point Bobcats defeated Reedsport 7 to 0 in a non conference game at the Fairgrounds. Nelson scored the decisive touchdown after a series of yard gains and Druliner provided the long run for Myrtle Point with several key plays. Reedsport threatened early but was stopped by the strong Bobcat line and penalties limited scoring.
The fair awarded prizes for barley, corn, popcorn, wheat, oats, grasses, canary grass, sunflowers, mint and alfalfa. Winners include Ced Cross and Verna Cain of Myrtle Point, Ernest Bryant of Myrtle Point, Owen Winters of Bandon, Rob ert Van Orden of Coos River, Deloss Strong of Myrtle Point, and Chester Wil son, with multiple first places and several seconds.
Safeway Stores inaugurate their updated Spruce street location between Fourth and Fifth streets with a new open front and meat market. A second Spruce and Sixth street store also reopens with a redesigned front. The changes give both shops a metropolitan look for Myrtle Point.
The city council met Monday evening and adopted ordinances including purchasing the Frank Young property at the A and Maple streets corner after condemnation and razing of county property. Young cannot pay assessments and will make monthly payments. a budget tax of 9,047.87 was levied. Marshal Bert Pearson will revoke licenses of all automatic game machines on November 1.
Leland P Linn principal of Myrtle Point High School will address the Curry County Teachers Institute in Gold Beach on Saturday. Other speakers include Victor P Morris from the University of Oregon and D A Emerson from the State Department of Education. Linn also serves as president of the Coos County Teachers Association and will preside at the Coos County Institute business session in Marshfield on Monday.

Halls Creek resident Ernest Watkins shot a deer from his residence porch after spotting a forked horn on a nearby hill. From his bed he fired a single shot and felled the animal, realizing a longtime aim.
Mrs Zenobia Stallard wife of Chas Stallard Jr of Powers died Tuesday at Mast hospital after recent shoulder tumor removal and left arm amputation. Born Coquille February 27 1911 she leaves husband daughter Rosa Charlene age 3 two brothers Melvin Omar Widmark and a sister Mrs Rosa Frye all of Powers. Body sent to Powers. funeral held there at 1:00 p m with Rev Paul Prickett officiating. interment Powers cemetery.
The North Bend Myrtle Point football clash moves to Thursday October 31 to avoid the Coquille Corn Show. Both teams remain undefeated and, if they win this weekend, the game could feel like a county championship with a record crowd expected. Injured players may return to boost Myrtle Point for this pivotal clash.
Private Thomas L Ostrander enlisted in the US Marine Corps at Portland and completed training at the San Diego base. He is now attached to the sea school awaiting assignment, having qualified as a pistol marksman and bayonet expert and distinguished himself in his platoon.
Coquille couple Kuehn Harvey and Olive Mae Ti man were married Friday by Father Matthew G Hart at the Catholic church in Coquille. After the ceremony the couple were feted at a dinner party in Myrle Point. A five course dinner at 830 was served at the Jack and Jill Cafe for the bride and groom and their immediate family.

Myrtle Point Bobkittens defeated the Powers Lumberjacks 19 to 13 on Friday afternoon. Milford Smith starred at fullback with early 40-yard return and key runs, Wayne Ray scored twice, Pierson added a late score as Myrtle Point built an 18 to 7 lead before Powers closed to 19 13.
The Woman's club holds its regular monthly meeting next Monday afternoon October 28 at 2 30 in City Hall. Roll call responses will be answered with a health dish for supper or luncheon. Mrs Floyd Summers leads the program on Health for the Home-maker with speaker Mrs Lela Elrod county health nurse.
Myrtle Point Junior Women's Club held a social gathering at president Mrs. Austin Dodge's home. Fourteen charter members were asked to bring a new eligible girl to join the club at this meeting.
Mrs. Maggie Ray, about 78, of Coquille was hit by a car Monday while crossing near the Coquille High School. She suffered fractures of the ankle pelvis left hip and left arm and is hospitalized at Coquille Hospital.

A mock wedding celebrated the golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs O W Heath during a Bridge Grange gathering. The wedding party included Lawrence Knight as groom and Dwight Culver as bride with Vern Knight Junior Bartlett Elmer Magill and Carl Harlow as flower girls. John Koch served as judge. Several period songs complemented the event.
In Myrtle Point city hall on Tuesday evening the Choral Society directed by Fr Hollister met for its first rehearsal. Fifteen members attended for an hour and a half and urged more to join next Tuesday. The group sees local talent and aims to start a sustained organization.

A stove donated by Mr and Mrs A H Bender was not used but wood arrived and stored. Next Sunday is mess meeting day for Townsend clubs across the country at 1 pm local time.
A large eagle with an eight inch wingspan was shot Wednesday by Ronald Warner on his brother Ellie Warner’s Powers ranch. The bird had preyed on livestock for some time and this is the second eagle killed on the Warner ranch, the previous one being shot from the air last year.
