Townsend Club in Myrtle Point Sees Pledge and Donations

The Myrtle Point Townsend club met at 2 pm Sunday at the Townsend hall with Vice President A A Schriefer in charge. W Lee Ray spoke on the Townsend plan noting its permanence and provided figures. Mrs A H Bender donated a heating stove for future meetings, and new members Mr and Mrs John Fellner joined the club.

Powers Man Tries Four Auto Thefts

Claude Arneson of Powers attempted to steal four automobiles in a single spree near Wermee. He first tried to start James Matte’s truck, then tried Whitney’s car at the post office, forcing a woman to scream. He later attempted to take Chan Stallard’s car at Maat hospital and finally sat behind the wheel of the D F Thompson auto near the Myrtle hotel before arrest. He was jailed for the night, fined 50 dollars, and sent to county jail to serve the fine. The vehicle with his claim to ownership was found at the Bro ade Bhingle mill bearing California license 4A7431.

Port Orford couple wed in quiet family ceremony

Valene Bowers and William Baker surprised relatives by marrying Sunday at the MacDonald home in Port Orford. They motored to Roseburg last week for the license, then left for Southern California after the ceremony. The bride, a Myrtle Point and San Diego alum, and the groom, a Myrtle Point graduate who ran a Port Orford theater, plan to spend the winter in Los Angeles.

Coos Dairymen Set Monday Meeting at Coquille

The Coos County Dairymen association will hold its regular quarterly meeting at the Woodmen’s hall in Coquille on Monday October 21 at 1 30 pm. President J N Jacobson of Coquille says Dr Sam B Foster inspector in charge for the Bureau of Animal Industry may attend. He oversees the federal Bangs disease dairy cattle testing program, with other dairy topics planned for discussion.

Church Council Elects Officers

The Mens Methodist Council of Coos County met at the local Methodist church for a banquet and program. Rev W Ray mond Wilder gave a violin solo and sang, Oliver J Gill spoke on recollections, and Dale Druliner sang tenor. Ernest Purvance was elected president. other officers include Lo P Linn vice president Edward H Joobuko secretary and Ivan Neeley treasurer. The Marshfield group invited the council to meet at their church next.

Livestock Owners Plan Association Formed at Myrtle Point
