The Myrtle Point Townsend club met at 2 pm Sunday at the Townsend hall with Vice President A A Schriefer in charge. W Lee Ray spoke on the Townsend plan noting its permanence and provided figures. Mrs A H Bender donated a heating stove for future meetings, and new members Mr and Mrs John Fellner joined the club.
Claude Arneson of Powers attempted to steal four automobiles in a single spree near Wermee. He first tried to start James Matte’s truck, then tried Whitney’s car at the post office, forcing a woman to scream. He later attempted to take Chan Stallard’s car at Maat hospital and finally sat behind the wheel of the D F Thompson auto near the Myrtle hotel before arrest. He was jailed for the night, fined 50 dollars, and sent to county jail to serve the fine. The vehicle with his claim to ownership was found at the Bro ade Bhingle mill bearing California license 4A7431.
County arrests target several in a North Bend murder case and related charges. Oscar Ansen, Arthur Lowry, Harrell Fouts, and Dave receive varying sentences for disorderly conduct. Nolan Bowman faces driving-related penalties after a wreck injuring students. Bowman later escapes. Ed Roesisberg gets 40 days with parole after a drunken public charge. Chas Puras pays fines for assault. Joan Daley, released after promising to pay a portion of his fine. F R Bone receives a fine and 10 days in jail.
Fred Roberts of Myrtle Point was arrested October 14 on a charge of intoxication and fined 10.
Valene Bowers and William Baker surprised relatives by marrying Sunday at the MacDonald home in Port Orford. They motored to Roseburg last week for the license, then left for Southern California after the ceremony. The bride, a Myrtle Point and San Diego alum, and the groom, a Myrtle Point graduate who ran a Port Orford theater, plan to spend the winter in Los Angeles.
A string of marriage licenses and ceremonies are recorded with various couples from Langlois Coquille Marshfield Bandon Grants Pass Coquille and adjacent towns. Justice J J Stanley and Rev Winfield Smith presided as Frank Ewald Kuhn Harvey and others wed or received licenses through last week in Coquille Langlois and surrounding communities.
The Coos County Dairymen association will hold its regular quarterly meeting at the Woodmen’s hall in Coquille on Monday October 21 at 1 30 pm. President J N Jacobson of Coquille says Dr Sam B Foster inspector in charge for the Bureau of Animal Industry may attend. He oversees the federal Bangs disease dairy cattle testing program, with other dairy topics planned for discussion.
MPHS Reedsport meets Myntle Paint Bobcats Saturday at 200 oclock at the local Fair grounds in a county conference game. Previous results include Bobcats crushing Cuquile 33 to 6 and beating Maratuicid 14 to 7 while Reedsport fell to Cottage Grove 38 to 0 and North Bend 20 to 0.
The Hiland Theater offers a novelty in cinema entertainment with Major Bowes and his Amateur Theater radio program presented for movie patrons during the evening. This feature runs in addition to the regular show.

The Mens Methodist Council of Coos County met at the local Methodist church for a banquet and program. Rev W Ray mond Wilder gave a violin solo and sang, Oliver J Gill spoke on recollections, and Dale Druliner sang tenor. Ernest Purvance was elected president. other officers include Lo P Linn vice president Edward H Joobuko secretary and Ivan Neeley treasurer. The Marshfield group invited the council to meet at their church next.
Coquille will host its annual Corn Show on Friday and Saturday November 1 and 2. County merchants aim to boost the event with added festivities and Coos County residents anticipate a weekend of entertainment and activities.
Myrtle Point High School crushed Bandon 14 to 0 on a muddy field as Druliner and Nelson sparked a strong Bobcats attack with end runs and smashes. Bandon fought back with passes and interceptions but Myrtle Point’s defense and fumbles could not be exploited. The win strengthens Myrtle Point’s drive toward the county title as they prepare for North Bend.
Livestock men at a Myrtle Point meeting voted unanimously for forming a county livestock association. A temporary committee led by Al King and Robert Carman will draft a plan to present on October 24. Attendees also urged continued predatory animal control with government hunters and sought funding. FFA conducts Christian Endeavor at the Presbyterian church with the program Facing the Future the Farmers and slides.
Coos County Fair awards announced with Albert Powers earning multiple honors across Percheron categories including best stallion senior champion mare and grand champion mare. Other winners include Guy Lamb Myrtle Point and W Cross Coquille for best mare or gelding and related classes.

He has been mortician with Schroeder Funeral directors in Myrtle Point for five years and the couple will reside at the Schroeder house after November first.
Townsend clubs appoint delegates to the Chicago national convention. Zach Murray will represent Camas Valley, Elmer Gant will represent Bandon, P W Walker of Coquille attends for his city, Rev J D Chappelle and M Sutton represent North Bend, and Mr and Mrs J A Blegger with A E Joenhnk attend for Marshfield.
Miss Thelma Gaylord state leader of home economics extension in Oregon met with Coos County Home Economics council on October 10 in the county agent's office. She explained services available for communities statewide during winter and planned meetings with Catching Inlet Coes River communities to discuss materials handling and program topics.
