Parade Set For Myrtle Point High Hosts 7th District Band Festival

Myrtle Point High will host the Southwestern Oregon District 7 marching band festival on Saturday October 24 with a parade at 1 p.m. from the high school up 6th Street to Spruce and back. Bands from Bandon Brookings North Bend Marshfield and Myrtle Point will perform 12 minutes each in the grandstand.

Weyerhaeuser Company will build ship mooring facilities and storage for plywood pulp and linerboard at Coos Bay adjacent to the existing plant. Volunteers Stop Blaze at Maple Street Home

Volunteer firefighters arrived at 1045 am Monday to Darwin Pullen’s 2503 Maple home and stopped a switch box fire. They found slight damage after removing the box and were aided by an electrician. Earlier volunteers stopped a Saturday call at 1150 pm near Dick’s Union Station where a 1960 Chevrolet Inn driven by Steven Thomas Pasne of Conquille was damaged by a lighted gate under the seat. the rear seat was destroyed.
