Port Orford to Honor 7 Year Mason Willis T White Sr

A large gathering from Oregon and California will honor Willis T White Sr at Port Orford October 2. White, born in 1867 in Maine, was made Master Mason in 1867 and is the Port Orford lodge’s first secretary, serving seven years. Grand lodge officers from two states are expected as the Western port hosts a historic Masonic event in Curry County.

Townsend Picnic Next Sunday

Portland guests included Mr and Mrs Hicks and Mr Robison, with Hicks noted as fire chief of Portlaw. Junior Adams missed school due to facial abscess. Mr and Mrs Beal left for Kansas to visit relatives. Earl Fite and Madge Nelson with Herman and Howard Nelson drove to Coos Head. In Coquille Mrs Carver and Mrs Greene were business callers. Harold and Leslie Dey hosted guests in Coquille. Prem Illahe hosted Mrs Maple of Mehe as a guest of Dr and Mrs Harrison Mast. Bay visitors Mr and Mrs Harold Beers of Marshfield attended a chop suey feed with games. men joked about the Hooicey line.

County Teachers Meeting Sets Saturday Activities

Former Bridge Man Harold James Dies in Roseburg

Harold James, longtime Bridge resident and former Bridge Grange master, died Sunday morning at a Roseburg sanitarium after a residence spanning Oregon cities. Born in Lexington, Oklahoma, he lived in Bridge most of his life, later moving to Medford and spending years in Walla Walla and Roseburg facilities. Rites were held Tuesday at a Roseburg funeral home with Veterans Facility chaplain, burial in the Veterans grave road, survived by Lavina James and children Everett and Sheridan, plus sisters Edna Parr and Vivien Lawrence.
