County taxes total 5 751 621 26 while Myrtle Point carries 1 940 618 in value at a 0 250 mill rate. Schools assess 15 181 800 for ad valorem taxes totaling 5 685 075 88.
Judge Robert C Belloni of the Coos County Circuit Court appoints seven Coos County citizens to form a juvenile advisory council to assist the court with programs and recommendations addressing juvenile delinquency. Members are Dr A Lipton Coos Bay William J Pullen Bundon Jack H Boun Empire Mrs Ralph Stuller Coquille Roger B Todd North Bend Rev Lloyd Swenson Myrtle Point Elwin Frye. The council will study community programs issue annual activity reports and may receive county funds. it becomes effective January 1 1960 with further appointments possible.
The Myrtle Point JC's sponsor a bicycle rodeo on Saturday October 27 at 10 a m on 6th Street between Maple and Spruce. A list of entry requirements will be sent home from school and many prizes will be awarded.
